Saturday Long Run

START TIMES:

CARPOOL ALERT: 16-24 milers carpooling from points north. Carpools leaving GZLs HQ 5:15-5:30 to get up north for first running steps around 5:45am. 18-24 milers leaving from Big Lots parking lot at Spicewood Springs @ 183. 15-16 milers leave from Gateway Cinema parking lot on Stonelake.

10-14 milers leaving Gazelles HQ at 5:45am.

Beginners and 5-8 milers go from Gazelles HQ 6:30am

Physical therapists in the house Saturday. Take advantage of this free service if you have a nagging pain or tightness in your legs.

Gazelles HQ is Closed for Construction!

Our building will be inaccessible for the next 6-8 weeks due to construction. We will continue to meet outside and use the parking garage. Parking validation coupons will be outside the HQ door, we recommend you put one in your car BEFORE the run. Portable restrooms will be available, but we will not have a place to hold car keys.

As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. NOTE: This week is point to point for those going 16 or so and longer. Prepare your carpool plans now. 14 and under going out and back from GZLs HQ.

3 Miles: Your map is here. This is a clockwise Pfluger footbridge to Mopac trail loop.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Cross over Cesar Chavez on pedestrian bridge to north side trail. Trail over to Congress. Up to Congress and up to and through Capitol grounds to Congress on north side. Right on MLK at Bob Bullock Museum. Veer left into UT campus at the talking oil derrick (San Jacinto), and into UT campus to the end of Clark Field on your left and the rec center on your right. Turn around there, and return to MLK, up to Bob Bullock Museum and Congress. Congress to and through Capitol, to north side trail, and back to GZLs HQ.

7 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Cross over Cesar Chavez on pedestrian bridge to north side trail. Trail over to Congress. Up to Congress and up to and through Capitol grounds to Congress on north side. Right on MLK at Bob Bullock Museum. Veer left into UT campus at the talking oil derrick (San Jacinto). San Jac through UT, crossing Dean Keaton, and veer right onto Duval. Up Duval to 31st St., where you will turn around and return to GZLs HQ. Duval back down to San Jacinto, to and through UT. Veer right at bottom of campus onto MLK, up to Bob Bullock Museum and Congress. Congress to and through Capitol, to cross Congress bridge to southside trail, to Pfluger footbridge, and back to GZLs HQ.

Congress to and through Capitol, to Congress bridge and southside trail, and back to Pfluger footbridge, and back to GZLs HQ.

Right on Duval down to San Jacinto, to and through UT. Veer right at bottom of campus onto MLK, up to Bob Bullock Museum and Congress. Congress to and through Capitol, to north side trail, and back to GZLs HQ.

Up to Congress and up to and through Capitol grounds to Congress on north side. Right on MLK at Bob Bullock Museum. Veer left into UT campus at the talking oil derrick (San Jacinto). San Jac through UT, crossing Dean Keaton, and veer right onto Duval. Up Duval to 45th St. Left on 45th over to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek up to Koenig/2222/Northland. Turn around there (or at water stop), and return Shoal Creek down to 45th. Left on 45th over to Duval. Right on Duval down to San Jacinto, to and through UT. Veer right at bottom of campus onto MLK, up to Bob Bullock Museum and Congress. Congress to and through Capitol, to north side trail, and back to GZLs HQ

Right on Burnet down to Longhorn Blvd., the industrial park on your right. Right on Longhorn to Business Drive, which is the second left hand turn. Left on Business over to Industrial Terrace. Left on Industrial Terrace up to United, where you'll go right. United to the access road at 183. Right on the access road to and under 183, looping to the south of 183, then access to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek down all the way to Foster. Right on Foster over to Great Northern. Left on Great Northern down to White Rock. Left on White Rock to Shoal Creek. Right down Shoal Creek to 45th. Left on 45th across town to Duval. Right on Duval down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jac to and through UT campus. At bottom campus, veer right at talking oil derrick to MLK. MLK up to Congress. Left on Congress, to and through Capitol grounds. Congress down to Cesar Chavez.  Congress across LB Lake to southside trail. Trail back to Pfluger footbridge, crossing back over to GZLs HQ.

19.5 Miles: Your map is here. Follow the 21 mile turn-by-turn instructions from Big Lots parking lot, all the way back to Congress bridge. Cross LB Lake on Congress bridge to southside trail. SS trail back to Pfluger footbridge from there, to GZLs HQ.

Congress down to Congress bridge, crossing to Southside trail by going over LB Lake and then curling back to trail towards Mopac. Then, SS trail to Mopac, cross to northside trail there, and finish northside trail to HQ.

24 Miles: For completists, use the 22 mile map above, and once you get to Mopac, add a short out and back on LA Blvd out to Exposition, turning around there, and returning to Mopac, northside trail, and HQ.

Oct 7th/8th (Chicago/St. George/Portland): Run smart, run with joy. And, for Chicago, enjoy the post-race deep dish!!

Oct. 15th (Columbus): Taper madness, week 3. 10-12 miles, last 4 @ MGP. Start time 5:45am from GZLs HQ.

Oct 21st/22nd (M2M, MCM, Baltimore, Toronto): Taper madness, week 2. 12-14 miles, last 6 @ MGP. Start time 5:45am from GZLs HQ.

Nov. 5th (NYC): 20-24 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 24 mile max. CARPOOL 5:15-5:30am from HQ to get up north for your start.

Nov. 18th (Philly): 18-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 22 mile max. CARPOOL 5:15-5:30am from HQ to get up north for your start..

Dec 3rd (CIM, San Antonio): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max. CARPOOL 5:15-5:30am from HQ to get up north for your start.

Dec. 10th (Dallas, BCS, Honolulu): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Jan 7th (Disney): 10-12 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Jan 14th (Houston, Louisiana): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Feb 18th (Austin): 7-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 6:30am. ***OR Run the RunFree TX 8K***

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles! This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 6:30am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

Oct. 8th (Portland Half): Run smart, run with joy!

Oct. 29th (Houston Half): Taper Madness Begins. 8-13 miles w/ last 5 @ HMGP. Easy rolling start, with last 5 miles at race pace. Start time 5:45am.

Nov. 5th (RFTW): 5-8 mile recovery run. Start time 6:30am.

Nov. 12th (Las Vegas, S. Padre, FW Half): 5-8 mile recovery run. Start time 6:30am.
