10 and 12 mile routes feature a short construction detour at MLK. Please read the maps and descriptions. Updated 6:00pm 9/26.

Note about water stops:

Our water stops are coordinated to support the routes and start times listed below. If you modify the routes or start times, please take water to cover yourselves in case the water is unavailable. 


THE ROUTES

3 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, crossing to southside trail at Mopac, and returning to GZLs HQ via Pfluger footbridge.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Exposition. RIGHT on Expo up to water stop at Expo and Enfield. Turn around there, and retrace your steps back to GZLs HQ. (Expo to LA Blvd to Veterans to northside trail to HQ).

6.7 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield under Mopac and over Lamar, turning RIGHT on West Avenue at the top of that blasted hill. Right down West, all the way to Trader Joe’s and back to GZLs HQ via Electric Blvd.

8 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way past the Capitol grounds to San Jacinto. Right on San Jacinto and up to 11th Street, right over to Congress. Left down Congress to 3rd St. RIGHT on 3rd Street past Trader Joe’s and back to GZLs HQ via Electric Blvd. NOTE: You will have about 4 miles without water from the water stop on Enfield/Expo before finishing. If you want to bring a bottle, feel free. Your other option would be to turn around at the water stop at Enfield/Expo, and retrace your steps all the way back to HQ, which would give you a water stop at the fountains at Mopac on the way back. Your choice.

10 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to 26th Street, or Dean Keeton This is where you diverge from your 16 mile friends. Right on Dean Keeton over to San Jacinto. RIGHT down down San Jacinto to and through UT Campus, veering right at the talking oil derrick. CONSTRUCTION DETOUR: Take a right up MLK one block to Brazos. Left on Brazos two blocks until it ends at 17th. Left on 17th back over to San Jacinto. From there right on San Jacinto, and continue San Jacinto up up past the Capitol grounds, and take a right on 11th Street, over to Congress. Down Congress to 3rd St. RIGHT on 3rd Street over past Trader Joe’s and back to GZLs HQ via Electric Blvd.

12 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to 38th Street. This is where you diverge from your 18 mile friends. Right on 38th over to Duval, and left on Duval down to San Jacinto, and you will diverge from your 14 and 16 mile friends here. Continue down San Jacinto to and through UT Campus, veering right at the talking oil derrick. CONSTRUCTION DETOUR: Take a right up MLK one block to Brazos. Left on Brazos two blocks until it ends at 17th. Left on 17th back over to San Jacinto. From there right on San Jacinto, and continue San Jacinto up up past the Capitol grounds, and take a right on 11th Street, over to Congress. 14 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to 26th Street, or Dean Keeton This is where you diverge from your 16 mile friends. Right on Dean Keeton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Take a RIGHT down Webberville to name change to Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Northside trail from there back to GZLs HQ.

16 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe up to 38th Street. 18 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe to 45th Street. Right on 45th over to Red River. Down Red River to 41st Street. Right on 41st to Duval, and left on Duval down to San Jacinto, then left on Dean Keeton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. You diverge from your 20-22 mile brethren here, by taking a RIGHT down Webberville to name change to Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Northside trail from there back to GZLs HQ.

20 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe to 45th Street. Right on 45th over to Red River. Down Red River to 41st Street. Right on 41st to Duval, and left on Duval down to San Jacinto, then left on Dean Keeton up to and under/over I-35. Yes, it measures 19.7 miles. You completists can scratch your GPS itch by taking a leisurely loop of the park at HQ.

22 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Northside trail to Mopac, up to LA Blvd, out to Enfield. Right on Enfield all the way over to Guadalupe. Left on Guadalupe to 45th Street. Right on 45th over to Red River. Down Red River to 41st Street. Right on 41st to Duval, and left on Duval down to San Jacinto, then left on Dean Keeton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Left on Webberville up to Goodwin Avenue. Right on Goodwin over to Tillery. Right on Tillery down to E. 5th St. Left on E. 5th over to Shady Lane. Turn around at Shady Lane, and return 5th Street back over to Pedernales. Left on Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Northside trail from there back to Congress Ave Bridge. Go up to the bridge behind the hotel, and cross LB Lake on the Congress Bridge, winding back under to southside trail. Finish SS trail back to Pfluger footbridge, and cross back one last time to GZLs HQ. Yes, it measures 21.4 miles. For your exact 22 miles, feel free to add a victory loop around Auditorium Shores on your way home to HQ.

THE MARATHONS

Sept 29th (Berlin): Lauf mit Freude durch Berlin, meine Freunde!

Oct 5th (St. George): Taper madness finishes. 8-12 miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace.

Oct 12th-13th (Hudson River, Chicago): Taper madness week 2. 12-16 miles, with last 6 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace.

Oct 20th (Detroit): Taper madness begins. 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace.

Oct 27th (MCM / M2M Marathons): Last loooonnnggg run. 20-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 22 mile max.

Nov 2-3 (Revel Mt Lemmon, NYC): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

Nov 10th (Outer Banks): 18-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max.

Nov. 16th (Richmond): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

Nov 24th (Phillie): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max.

Dec 8th (CIM, BCS, San Antonio, Honolulu): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 18 mile max.

Dec 15th (Dallas White Rock): 10-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

Jan 12th 2020 (Disney Dopey Challenge): 10-12 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.

Jan 18th-19th 2020 (REVEL Hawaii, Houston): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 14 mile max.

Feb 16th 2020 (Austin): 7-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 10 mile max.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark.

Oct 13th (30a Half): Taper Madness week 2. 6-10 miles, with last 3 @ HMGP. Start relaxed, and finish with last 3 miles at honest HMGP.

Oct 26th (Spartan Beast Half): 10-14 miles. The last loooonnnggg run. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 14 mile max.

Nov 3rd (Run For The Water): 4-6 miles this week. Back off from last week a bit.

Nov 17th (Las Vegas Half): 5-8 miles. Recovery long run. Back off from last week a bit.

Nov 23th (Shiner Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 10 mile max.

Dec 7th (St. Jude’s Half, San Antonio Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 10 mile max.

Dec 15th (Dallas Half, Decker Half): 6-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 10 mile max.

Jan 19th, 2020 (3M Half, Houston Half): 5-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 8 mile max.
