Saturday Long Run - P2P for folks going 10-22 miles, with three different starting spots up north. 0-10 will go out and back from HQ.

It’s point to point for 10-22 milers, so carpooling will be necessary to get up to the various starts. Carpools will meet up and leave HQ at 5:15-5:30am to get up north for a 5:45am start.

18-22 miles: Go to Big Lots parking lot at 183 and Spicewood Springs.
14-16 miles: Go to Randall’s parking lot at Jollyville @ Braker.
10-12 miles point to point routes: Go to Foster @ Shoal Creek (parking lot on NW corner of intersection). 

START TIMES:

10-22 milers going point to point, so carpools leaving Gazelles HQ at 5:15-5:30am to the 3 destinations listed above.

0-10 milers leaving Gazelles HQ 5:45am for out and back route. 10 Milers can choose either the out and back or point to point option for their run. If 10 milers are running along with their 12 mile friends, then you should choose the point to point option to run together for most of the run.

THE MAPS 

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We're going point to point from points north, Jollyville to Mesa to Spicewood Springs to Shoal Creek to 45th to Duval, etc., if you're going 10-20 miles [SEE CARPOOL NOTES ABOVE]. For 0-10 miles, going out and back through UT and up Duval, leaving HQ at 5:45am.

SPECIAL WATER ADVISORY

If you design some route not listed below, please warn me so I can act accordingly with water stops up high on the course. 12 mile out and back peeps don’t have to be concerned, but if you’re going out and back for some distance beyond 12 miles, then the water team needs to know, so we can look for you out there. I am moving the first stop, for instance, once everyone goes through, to move down to 45th. Text me at 512-751-3956 if you find yourself doing something different in the 12-20 mile range other than what is listed below.

OUT AND BACK

3 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Turn around at 11th @ San Jacinto, and return back to Congress, left on Congress down to 3rd, to Trader Joe's, and back to HQ.

4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to MLK. Turn around at MLK, and return up San Jacinto alongside the capitol grounds. Up up up to 11th Street, then right on 11th over to Congress, left on Congress down to 3rd, to Trader Joe's, and back to HQ. 

5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus to 23rd St, which is the north end of the football palace. Turn around there, and return back through UT campus, veering right at bottom of campus to remain on San Jacinto alongside the capitol grounds. Up up up to 11th Street, then right on 11th over to Congress, left on Congress down to 3rd, to Trader Joe's, and back to HQ. 

7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus to Dean Keaton. San Jacinto to Duval. Veer right onto Duval up to 38th St. Turn around at 38th, and retrace your steps home. Duval back down to San Jacinto, through UT, to San Jacinto past the Capitol up to 11th. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to 3rd Street, right on 3rd St. and to Trader Joe's and back to HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus to Dean Keaton. San Jacinto to Duval. Veer right onto Duval up to 43rd St. Turn around at 43rd, and retrace your steps home. Duval back down to San Jacinto, through UT, to San Jacinto past the Capitol up to 11th. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to 3rd Street, right on 3rd St. and to Trader Joe's and back to HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus to Dean Keaton. San Jacinto to Duval. Veer right onto Duval up to 45th St. Left on 45th over to Lamar. Turn around at Lamar, and retrace your steps home. 45th to Duval, right on Duval back down to San Jacinto, through UT, to San Jacinto past the Capitol up to 11th. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to 3rd Street, right on 3rd St. and to Trader Joe's and back to HQ. You will have about a 4 mile water stop gap between your mile 3 and mile 7, so fill up accordingly, or bring a small water bottle to fill for that portion of your journey.

CARPOOL UP TO FOSTER @ SHOAL CREEK (PARKING LOT ON NW CORNER OF INTERSECTION)

Take right on Foster to Great Northern. Down Great Northern to White Rock. Left on White Rock to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek down to 45th. Left on 45th over to Duval. Right on Duval. Duval down down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Veer right at talking oil derrick and stay on San Jacinto up to 11th St. Right on 11th to Congress. Left on Congress down to and across bridge to southside trail. Take southside trail back to Pfluger footbridge and to HQ.

Left on Congress down across Congress bridge to Southside trail, and then head back to Auditorium Shores, where you will take a full Auditorium Shores loop as a victory lap (and mileage booster), then finally Pfluger footbridge and to HQ. 

CARPOOL UP TO BIG LOTS (SPICEWOOD SPRINGS @ 183) PARKING LOT

18 Miles: Your map is here. Start up at Big Lots parking lot at Spicewood Springs @ 183. Jollyville down to Great Hills Trail. Left on Great Hills over to Stonelake. RIGHT on Stonelake down to Capital of Texas Highway. Right on Cap Texas Hwy, carefully crossing over Mopac on the walkway to access road, left over to church, right up to Jollyville again. Left on Jollyville to Mesa. Right on Mesa down to Spicewood Springs. Left on Spicewood Springs across Mopac to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek to Foster. Foster right to Great Northern. Down Great Northern to White Rock. Left on White Rock to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek down to 45th. Left on 45th over to Duval. Right on Duval. Duval down down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Veer right at talking oil derrick and stay on San Jacinto up to 11th St. Right on 11th to Congress. Left on Congress down across Congress bridge to Southside trail, and then head back to Pfluger footbridge and to HQ. This measures 17.7 miles, so you completists can choose your own favorite little mileage bump to round up to 18. I’d recommend some leisurely loop at Auditorium Shores.

San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Veer right at talking oil derrick and stay on San Jacinto up to 11th St. Right on 11th to Congress. Down Great Northern to White Rock. Left on White Rock to Shoal Creek. Right on Shoal Creek down to 45th. Left on 45th over to Duval. Right on Duval. Duval down down to merge with San Jacinto. San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Veer right at talking oil derrick and stay on San Jacinto up to 11th St. Right on 11th to Congress. Left on Congress down to northside trail (take steps to northside trail behind hotel on SE corner). Take northside trail out to I-35. Take ramp on east side of I-35 up to walkway across bridge to southside trail. Take Southside trail and boardwalk back past Pfluger footbridge, across footbridge over Barton Creek, and turn around on trail where the concrete walkway heads up to Zilker Park. Turn there, and return southside trail back to Pfluger footbridge and to HQ.

THE MARATHONS

Sept 8th (Erie) - Taper madness finishes. 8-12 miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 10-12 miles. If you prefer not to carpool, then out and back from HQ at 5:45am is just fine. You’ll have to design your own 12 mile out and back, turning around when Garmin says 6 miles.

Sept 14th-15th (Big Cottonwood, Tunnel Light Marathon): Taper madness week 2. 12-16 miles, with last 6 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at Randall’s at Braker @ Jollyville for 14-16 miles, or at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 12 miles.

Sept 22nd (Buenos Aires): Taper madness begins. 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Oct 12th-13th (Hudson River, Chicago): 18-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max. Carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at Big Lots parking lot (183 @ Spicewood Springs). 

Oct 20th (Detroit): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at Randall’s at Braker @ Jollyville for 14 miles, or at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 12 miles.

Oct 27th (MCM / M2M Marathons): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max. Carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at Big Lots parking lot (183 @ Spicewood Springs) for 18-20 miles, or Randall’s at Braker @ Jollyville for 16 miles.

Nov 2-3 (Revel Mt., NYC): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at Randall’s at Braker @ Jollyville for 14 miles, or at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 12 miles.

Dec 8th (CIM, BCS, San Antonio, Honolulu): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 14 mile max. Carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at Randall’s at Braker @ Jollyville for 14 miles, or at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 10-12 miles.

Dec 15th (Dallas White Rock): 10-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 12 mile max. Carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 10-12 miles. If you prefer not to carpool, then out and back from HQ at 5:45am is just fine. You’ll have to design your own 12 mile out and back, turning around when Garmin says 6 miles.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 8th (Columbia media marathon): Taper time last week! Get your passports in order! 4-8 miles, with last 3 miles @ HMGP.  For you, out and back from HQ at 5:45am would be the way to go.

Oct 13th (30a Half): 10-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 12 mile max. For a point to point journey, carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 10-12 miles. If you prefer not to carpool, then out and back from HQ at 5:45am is just fine. You’ll have to design your own 12 mile out and back, turning around when Garmin says 6 miles.

Oct 26th (Spartan Beast Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am from HQ. If you’re going 10, and would prefer point to point running, then carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 10 miles. 

Nov 3rd (Run For The Water): Welcome. 3-4 miles this week, adding a mile or so to your last longer long run. Start 5:45am from HQ.

Nov 17th (Las Vegas Half): 6-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am from HQ for 6-10 miles. If you’re going 10, and would prefer point to point running, then carpool time leaving HQ at 5:15-5:30am, with your run starting at parking lot at Foster @ Shoal Creek for 10 miles. 

Nov 23th (Shiner Half): 5-8 miles. Recovery long run. Back off from last week a bit. Start time 5:45am from HQ.

Dec 7th (St. Jude’s Half, San Antonio Half): 5-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 8 mile max. Start time 5:45am from HQ.

Dec 15th (Dallas Half): 5-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 8 mile max. Start time 5:45am from HQ.
