Saturday Long Run - Rollingwood!

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We’re exploring the rolling hills of, uh, Rollingwood this Saturday.

THE ROUTES

3 Miles: Your map is here. Pfluger footbridge to Mopac trail loop.

4 Miles: Your map is here. First St. bridge to Mopac Trail Loop.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Congress to Mopac trail loop.

7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to northside trail, and go out to Congress bridge. Go up and across LB Lake on Congress bridge. Head west on the southside trail and after crossing the wooden Barton Springs bridge, take a left to go towards Barton Springs pool, under Barton Springs Road.  Follow the railroad tracks to the pool parking lot. Wind through the parking lot and take a left on Columbus around (this is the mile repeat course) and out to where it crosses under Mopac and turns into Rollingwood Drive.  Take Rollingwood Drive to the water stop at Rollingwood Park. Turn around at the water stop, and return Rollingwood to frontage road.  Take a left along the frontage road briefly until you cross under Mopac and take a left on the trail that parallels Mopac and pops out down at Stratford Drive.  Cross Stratford to get back to the trail and cross over to the north side.  Stay on northside trail back to GZL HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to northside trail, and go out to Congress bridge. Go up and across LB Lake on Congress bridge. Head west on the southside trail and after crossing the wooden Barton Springs bridge, take a left to go towards Barton Springs pool, under Barton Springs Road.  Follow the railroad tracks to the pool parking lot. Wind through the parking lot and take a left on Columbus around (this is the mile repeat course) and out to where it crosses under Mopac and turns into Rollingwood Drive.  Take Rollingwood Drive to North Peak Road, which is the second street after the water stop that completely cuts through Rollingwood. Turn around at North Peak Road, and return Rollingwood to the water stop. After the water stop, continue Rollingwood to frontage road.  Take a left along the frontage road briefly until you cross under Mopac and take a left on the trail that parallels Mopac and pops out down at Stratford Drive. Cross Stratford to get back to the trail and cross over to the north side.  Stay on northside trail back to GZL HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to northside trail, and go out to Congress bridge. Go up and across LB Lake on Congress bridge. Head west on the southside trail and after crossing the wooden Barton Springs bridge, take a left to go towards Barton Springs pool, under Barton Springs Road.  Follow the railroad tracks to the pool parking lot. Wind through the parking lot and take a left on Columbus around (this is the mile repeat course) and out to where it crosses under Mopac and turns into Rollingwood Drive.  Take Rollingwood Drive and cross over Bee Cave Road where it becomes Old Walsh Tarleton.  At the end of Old Walsh Tarleton, take a right on Wilderness Drive, then a left on Walsh Tarleton.  Turn around at Walsh Tarleton @ Thousand Oaks, retrace back to Rollingwood (Walsh Tarleton, to Wilderness, to Old Walsh Tarleton, across Bee Cave Road to Rollingwood).  After the water stop, continue Rollingwood to frontage road.  Take a left along the frontage road briefly until you cross under Mopac and take a left on the trail that parallels Mopac and pops out down at Stratford Drive.  Cross Stratford to get back to the trail and cross over to the north side.  Stay on northside trail back to GZL HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to northside trail, and go out to Congress bridge. Go up and across LB Lake on Congress bridge. Head west on the southside trail and after crossing the wooden Barton Springs bridge, take a left to go towards Barton Springs pool, under Barton Springs Road.  Follow the railroad tracks to the pool parking lot. Wind through the parking lot and take a left on Columbus around (this is the mile repeat course) and out to where it crosses under Mopac and turns into Rollingwood Drive.  Take Rollingwood Drive and cross over Bee Cave Road where it becomes Old Walsh Tarleton.  At the end of Old Walsh Tarleton, take a right on Wilderness Drive, then a left on Walsh Tarleton.  Turn left on Thousand Oaks, left on Regents Park, then right on Chatelaine, to Liberty Park.  Turn around at the water stop at that corner (Liberty Park @ Chatelaine) and retrace back to Rollingwood.  After the water stop, continue Rollingwood to frontage road.  Take a left along the frontage road briefly until you cross under Mopac and take a left on the trail that parallels Mopac and pops out down at Stratford Drive.  Cross Stratford to get back to the trail and cross over to the north side.  Stay on northside trail back to GZL HQ.

14 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to northside trail, and go out to Congress bridge. Go up and across LB Lake on Congress bridge. Turn around there, and return to Mopac. Stay on northside trail back to GZL HQ.

Take LAB back to Mopac and stay on northside trail back to GZL HQ.

Take LAB back to Mopac and cross back to the south side of the trail and to the First St. bridge where you'll cross and go back to GZL HQ.

Take LAB back to Mopac and cross back to the south side of the trail out to the Boardwalk, and turn around at the trailhead behind the fish place on your right. Turn around there, and return to the Congress bridge where you'll cross and go back to GZL HQ.

21 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ to northside trail, and go out to Congress bridge. Go up and across LB Lake on Congress bridge. Head west on the southside trail and after crossing the wooden Barton Springs bridge, take a left to go towards Barton Springs pool, under Barton Springs Road.  Follow the railroad tracks to the pool parking lot. Wind through the parking lot and take a left on Columbus around (this is the mile repeat course) and out to where it crosses under Mopac and turns into Rollingwood Drive.  Take Rollingwood Drive and cross over Bee Cave Road where it becomes Old Walsh Tarleton.  At the end of Old Walsh Tarleton, take a right on Wilderness Drive, then a left on Walsh Tarleton.  Turn left on Thousand Oaks, left on Regents Park, then right on Chatelaine, then left on Liberty Park.  Turn around at Liberty Park at the second left hand road off of Liberty Park just past the fire station and retrace back to Rollingwood.  After the water stop, continue Rollingwood to frontage road.  Take a left along the frontage road briefly until you cross under Mopac and take a left on the trail that parallels Mopac and pops out down at Stratford Drive.  Cross Stratford to get back to the trail and cross over to the north side.  Take a left and go up Veterans to Lake Austin Blvd (LAB) and turn left.  Go out LAB, then right on Enfield, right on Exposition and turn left once back to LAB. Take LAB back to Mopac and cross back to the south side of the trail all the way to I-35, and cross up and over LBLake on I-35 footbridge to northside trail and back to GZL HQ. For a full 22, add your favorite 1 mile bump.

THE MARATHONS

Sept 8th (Erie) - Taper madness Week 2. 12-16 miles, with last 6 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 14th-15th (Big Cottonwood, Tunnel Light Marathon): Taper madness begins. 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Use honest MGP, but start easy, and finish at race pace. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 22nd (Buenos Aires): Last loooonnnggg run. 20-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 22 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 29th (Berlin): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am. 

Oct 5th (St. George): 18-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max. Start time 5:45am. 

Oct 12th-13th (Hudson River, Chicago): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 20th (Detroit): 16-20 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 20 mile max. Start time 5:45am. 

Oct 27th (MCM / M2M Marathons): 12-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am. 

Nov 2-3 (Revel Mt., NYC): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 18 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Nov 10th (Outer Banks): 10-14 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Nov. 16th (Richmond): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 16 mile max. Start time 5:45am. 

Nov 24th (Phillie): 10-12 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week.. Start time 5:45am.

Dec 8th (CIM, BCS, San Antonio, Honolulu): 10-12 miles recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Dec 15th (Dallas White Rock): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am. 
BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

Sept 8th (Columbia media marathon): Taper time, Week 2! 6-10 miles, with last 3-4 miles @ HMGP. Start time 5:45am.

Oct 13th (30a Half): 5-8 mile recovery long run. Start time 5:45am.
