Saturday Long Run - Austin Marathon course, North and East

START TIMES:

Everyone starts 5:45am from HQ.

THE MAPS

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We're touring the north and east portions of the Austin Marathon course this weekend, plus some extra bits for those going 16-18 miles.

3 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Turn around at 11th @ San Jacinto, and return back to Congress, left on Congress down to 3rd, to Trader Joe's, and back to HQ.

4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to MLK. Turn around at MLK, and return up San Jacinto alongside the capitol grounds. Up up up to 11th Street, then right on 11th over to Congress, left on Congress down to 3rd, to Trader Joe's, and back to HQ.

5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus to Dean Keaton. Turn around there, and return Dean Keaton back through UT campus, veering right at bottom of campus to remain on San Jacinto alongside the capitol grounds. Up up up to 11th Street, then right on 11th over to Congress, left on Congress down to 3rd, to Trader Joe's, and back to HQ. This route measures 5.6 miles, but it includes the water stop. If you want more like 5 miles exactly, then turn around at the north end of the football palace on UT campus, and return home from there.

7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Right on Dean Keaton up to I-35. Turn around there, and return Dean Keaton back to UT campus and San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto and through UT campus, veering right at bottom of campus to remain on San Jacinto alongside the capitol grounds. Up up up to 11th Street, then right on 11th over to Congress, left on Congress down to 3rd, to Trader Joe's, and back to HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Right on Dean Keaton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to MLK, Jr. Blvd. Turn around at MLK, and return the way you came. Chicon back up to Lafayette, then left onto Dean Keaton back to UT campus and San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto and through UT campus, veering right at bottom of campus to remain on San Jacinto alongside the capitol grounds. Up up up to 11th Street, then right on 11th over to Congress, left on Congress down to 3rd, to Trader Joe's, and back to HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Right on Dean Keaton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Right on Webberville down to name change to Pedernales. Continue Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Go right on northside trail, winding around and sticking to northside trail back to GZLs HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Right on Dean Keaton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Right on Webberville down to name change to Pedernales. Continue Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Go left on Northside trail to Longhorn Dam, then to southside trail. Stay on southside trail past Lamar, and around the corner to the footbridge over Barton Creek. Turn around there at the footbridge, returning southside trail to Pfluger footbridge, and over to GZLs HQ.

14 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Right on Dean Keaton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Right on Webberville down to name change to Pedernales. Continue Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Go left on Northside trail to Longhorn Dam, then to southside trail all the way to Mopac. Cross back to northside, and return northside trail from there back to GZLs HQ. This measures 13.7 miles, so you completists know where to find an extra 0.3 miles somewhere.

16 Miles: Your map is here.  GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Right on Dean Keaton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Right on Webberville down to name change to Pedernales. Continue Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Go left on Northside trail to Longhorn Dam, then to southside trail all the way to Mopac. Cross back to northside, exiting the trail at Mopac out to Veterans, to Lake Austin Blvd, and over to Exposition. Expo up to Enfield, where you will turn around and return Expo to LA Blvd, to Mopac, to northside trail and back to HQ.

18 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Trader Joe's, up to 3rd Street, and over to Congress. Left on Congress up to 11th. Right on 11th up to San Jacinto. Left on San Jacinto to and through UT campus. Right on Dean Keaton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Right on Webberville down to name change to Pedernales. Continue Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Go left on Northside trail to Longhorn Dam, then to southside trail all the way to Mopac. Cross back to northside, exiting the trail at Mopac out to Veterans, to Lake Austin Blvd, and LA Blvd out to Enfield. Hard right onto Enfield, and over to Expo. Right on Expo down to LA Blvd, to Mopac, to northside trail and back to HQ. This measures 17.6 miles, so choose your own favorite extra 0.4 mile bit to get to absolute 18.

THE MARATHONS

Feb 17th (Austin):  8-12 miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Easy start, and then crank up to marathon goal pace for last 4 miles of the run. Start time 5:45am.

March 3rd (Woodlands/Napa Valley): 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Easy start, and then crank up to marathon goal pace for last 8 miles of the run. Start time 5:45am.

April 14th (Paris): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week. Start time 5:45am.

April 15th (Boston): 12-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week. Start time 5:45am.

April 27th/28th (Revel/Waco/Big Sur/Eugene/London): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week. Start time 5:45am.

May 5th (Toronto, Vancouver, Avenue of the Giants): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 16 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

May 18th (Beach to Bay): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

June 2nd (San Diego): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

June 9th (Tunnel Marathon): 9-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

June 22nd (Grandma's): 7-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

Feb 17th (Austin Half): 4-8 miles, with last 3 @ HMGP. Easy start, and then crank up to half marathon goal pace for last 3 miles of the run. Start time 5:45am.

March 3rd (Alamo Half): 8-13 miles, with last 5 @ HMGP. Easy start, and then crank up to half marathon goal pace for last 5 miles of the run. Start time 5:45am.

April 7th (Cap 10K): 7-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

April 7th (Cherry Blossom 10 miler): 8 miles recovery long run. Back off a little from last week. Start time 5:45am.

April 7th (San Francisco RnR Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

May 5th (Vancouver Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

May 18th (Brooklyn Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

June 29th (Santa Barbara Half): 5-8 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 8 mile max. Start time 5:45am.
