Saturday Long Run - South Austin marathon start, plus North/East marathon course as needed

3M Racers: 30 minute shake out run, easy on the trail. Start from Gazelles HQ at 7:45 am.

3M Note: Please don't run a 20 miler on Saturday before 3M on Sunday. If you are an Austin marathoner, for instance, and you are running 3M, plan on turning that into your long run instead. For 20 miles, do 3-4 miles easy warmup Sunday, then run 3M, a bit restrained, and then 3-4 miles easy afterwards to build your 20 mile day.

Everyone leaves Gazelles HQ at 5:45am. (Except 3M racers leave at 7:45 am)

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We're touring the south Austin start of the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon courses, plus other mileage as needed for those going longer.

2.5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Riverside. Riverside to Auditorium Shores, over to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. For 3 miles full, feel free to add a victory lap around the park at GZLs HQ.

4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to W. Mary St. Right on Mary over to S. First. Right on S. First back to Riverside. Riverside over to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Oltorf. Right on Oltorf over to S. First. Right on S. First back to Southside trail. SS Trail over to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Oltorf. Right on Oltorf over to S. First. Right on S. First back to Southside trail. SS Trail over to Lou Neff Point. Turn around there, and return SS trail back to Pfluger footbridge, up and over LB Lake to HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Oltorf. Right on Oltorf over to S. First. Right on S. First back to Southside trail. SS Trail over to Mopac. Northside trail back to HQ.

10.6 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over to Seaholm, up to 3rd Street, and across to Congress. Right on Congress down to Oltorf. Right on Oltorf over to S. First. Right on S. First back to Southside trail. SS Trail over to Mopac. Veterans up to Lake Austin Blvd. Left on LAB over to Exposition. Expo up to O. Henry Middle School. Turn around there, and return Expo to LAB, to Mopac, and northside trail back to HQ. If you go up to the water stop at Enfield @ Expo before returning, it adds up to 10.6. FYI.

Continue 15th to Capitol grounds. Right on Congress around Capitol to Congress on other side. Congress down to 3rd. Right on 3rd over to Seaholm and back to GZLs HQ.

Left on Guadalupe up to Dean Keaton. Right on Dean Keaton over to San Jacinto. NOTE: Take a short trip left up San Jacinto to Double Dave's pizza for a last water stop. Left on San Jacinto through UT campus to veer right at oil derrick. Stay on San Jacinto up to 11th Street. Right on 11th over to Congress. Left on Congress down to 3rd. Right on 3rd over to Seaholm and back to GZLs HQ.

Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Right on Webberville down to name change to Pedernales. Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Northside trail from there back to GZLs HQ.

Left on Guadalupe up to 46th Street. Right on 46th over to Avenue H. Right on Avenue H down to 45th. Left on 45th over to Red River. Right on Red River down to 41st, and right on 41st over to Duval. Left on Duval down to San Jacinto and to Dean Keaton. Left on Dean Keaton up to and under/over I-35. On East side of I-35, take a right on Lafayette, which changes names to Chicon in a block or so, and take Chicon down to E. 12th Street. Left on E. 12th over to Pleasant Valley Road. Right on Pleasant Valley Road down to Webberville Road. Right on Webberville down to name change to Pedernales. Pedernales down to join the LB Lake trail at the old Holly Power Plant. Northside trail from there back to GZLs HQ.  This measures 22.6 miles, so feel free to chill out once you cross under First St.

THE MARATHONS

Jan 20th (Houston): Run smart, run with joy, layer up with throwaway clothes and/or a black yard trash bag for warmth at the start.

Feb 17th (Austin):  20-24 miles. The last looooonnggg run. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 24 mile max.

March 3rd (Woodlands/Napa Valley): 18-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 22 mile max.

April 14th (Paris): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 16 mile max.

April 15th (Boston): 16-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max.

April 27th/28th (Revel/Waco/Big Sur/Eugene/London): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max.

May 5th (Toronto, Vancouver): 10-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max.

May 18th (Beach to Bay): 9-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles! This week, 2.5-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark.
