Saturday Long Run - South Austin start of Austin Marathon plus Enfield and Expo

ROUTE CHANGE 8:00PM FRIDAY. ZILKER PARK IS FULLY CLOSED STILL TO FOOT AND CAR TRAFFIC, SO WE'VE HAD TO AVOID THAT PART OF THE PROPOSED JOURNEYS. PLEASE CHECK YOUR MAPS FOR MODIFIED ROUTES, STARTING WITH 12 MILERS. I APOLOGIZE, BUT THE COMBO PLATTER OF WATER AND ACL IS PUTTING A WHAMMY ON US.

START TIMES:

10-22 milers leaving Gazelles HQ at 5:45am.

5-8 milers and beginners 5:45am.

THE MAPS

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We're touring the starting southern miles of the Austin Marathon course, plus additional miles in the Enfield/Exposition area as needed. Trail water fountains are closed as of this writing, so we will try to avoid most of the trail this weekend.

4 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over towards Trader Joe's, and up to 3rd Street. 3rd over to Congress. South (right) on Congress. Cross LB Lake on Congress bridge, and continue S. Congress down to Elizabeth St. Right on Elizabeth over to S. First. Right on S. First all the way to Riverside. Left on Riverside over to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. 

5 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over towards Trader Joe's, and up to 3rd Street. 3rd over to Congress. South (right) on Congress. Cross LB Lake on Congress bridge, and continue S. Congress down to Oltorf St. Right on Oltorf over to S. First. Right on S. First all the way to Riverside. Left on Riverside over to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ. 

7 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over towards Trader Joe's, and up to 3rd Street. 3rd over to Congress. South (right) on Congress. Cross LB Lake on Congress bridge, and continue S. Congress down to Lightsey. Right on Lightsey over to S. First. Right on S. First all the way to Auditorium Shores and southside trail. SS trail to Pfluger footbridge, and back to HQ.

Continue Veterans up to LA Blvd, where you will turn around and return to HQ taking Veterans around the Austin High track again, going under Cesar Chavez to northside of Cesar Chavez and bike path. Follow bike path back to HQ along north side of Cesar Chavez. 

12 Miles: Your map is here. GZLs HQ over towards Trader Joe's, and up to 3rd Street. 3rd over to Congress. South (right) on Congress. Cross LB Lake on Congress bridge, and continue S. Congress down to Krebs Lane, just a short block from the Hwy 71 access road. Right on Krebs, around sweeping left hand turn, and then right onto Hwy 71 access road.  Access road (sidewalk, please!!) up to S. First. Right on S. First all the way to Riverside Dr. Left on Riverside to Pfluger footbridge. Cross to northside of Cesar Chavez, and take the Lance Armstrong bike path out to crossing under Cesar Chavez, to Veterans, going around Austin High track. Continue Veterans up to LA Blvd, to Exposition, and up Expo to O. Henry Middle School, where you will turn around and return Expo to LA Blvd to Veterans. From Mopac, take Veterans around the Austin High track again, going under Cesar Chavez to northside of Cesar Chavez and bike path. Follow bike path back to HQ along north side of Cesar Chavez.

Left on Jackson up to Bull Creek intersection, where you will turn around and return Jackson to 35th to Expo to Enfield. Right on Enfield out to LA Blvd, then LA Blvd back to Veterans and Mopac. From Mopac, take Veterans around the Austin High track again, going under Cesar Chavez to northside of Cesar Chavez and bike path. Follow bike path back to HQ along north side of Cesar Chavez.

Left on Bull Creek out to Hancock, where you will turn around and return Bull Creek to Jackson to 35th to Expo to Enfield. Right on Enfield out to LA Blvd, then LA Blvd back to Veterans and Mopac. From Mopac, take Veterans around the Austin High track again, going under Cesar Chavez to northside of Cesar Chavez and bike path. Follow bike path back to HQ along north side of Cesar Chavez.

October 27th, 28th (M2M, Marine Corps): Run with joy, run smart!

Nov 4th (NYC): Taper madness Week 3. 8-12 miles, with last 4 @ MGP. Start time 5:45am.

Nov 18th (Havana, Phillie): Taper madness begins. 14-18 miles, with last 8 @ MGP. Start time 5:45am.

Dec 2nd (CIM): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Dec 8th, 9th (BCS, Dallas, Honolulu): 18-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 22 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Jan 13th (Disney): 10-14 mile recovery long run. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Jan 20th (Houston): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 16 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Feb 17th (Austin): 10-14 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

Nov 17th (Phillie Half, Havana Half): Taper Madness begins. 8-13 miles, with last 5 miles at HMGP. Start time 5:45am.

Dec 2nd (CIM Relay, Phoenix RnR Half, San Antonio Half): Recovery long run 5-8 miles. Back off a bit from last week. Start time 5:45am.

Jan 20th (Houston half, 3M): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Feb 17th (Austin Half): 8-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.
