Saturday Long Run - Mountain Bonnell and Scenic, special Boston 18 miler

NOTE: Boston folks have a special (chosen by Coach, please note :-) ) hilly tour of Bonnell and Far West.

Everyone starts 5:45am from HQ.

If you start earlier (or later) than your group's call time, please check with your pace pals to make sure your team is all starting at the same time. As always, if you start way before the scheduled start times, please take water to cover yourselves for that first water stop (or two) in case you're ahead of the logistical team. We're touring Scenic route and Mountain Bonnell this weekend.

3 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd.Turn around there, and return to HQ, retracing your steps all the way Veterans to Mopac to northside trail and to GZLs HQ.

4 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Exposition. Turn around there, and return to HQ, retracing your steps all the way LABlvd to Mopac to northside trail and to GZLs HQ.

5 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to water stop at Lufkin (across from Golf Course). Turn around there, and return to HQ, retracing your steps all the way LABlvd to Mopac to northside trail and to GZLs HQ.

7 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Turn around at that corner (Stevenson@Rockmoor), and return Rockmoor to Cherry to Scenic, etc., retracing your steps all the way to northside trail and to GZLs HQ.

8 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to the big house on the right that has the large open lot next to it, about half way down. Turn around there, and return Scenic, etc., retracing your steps all the way to northside trail and to GZLs HQ.

10 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th.  Turn around there, and return Pecos to Scenic, etc., retracing your steps all the way to northside trail and to GZLs HQ.

12 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Turn around there, and return down Mt. Bonnell Rd. to 35th to Pecos to Scenic, etc., retracing your steps all the way to northside trail and to GZLs HQ. 

14 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Continue on Mt. Bonnell Road north to the first right hand street after the water stop, which is Mt. Bonnell Drive. Right on Mt. Bonnell Drive, across Balcones to Edgemont Drive. Left on Edgemont until a hard left hand corner at Glen Rose Drive. Left on Glen Rose up to name change to Madrona Drive, and to Balcones. Right on Balcones up to Hancock. Right on Hancock to Bull Creek. Right on Bull Creek down to right hand veer onto Jackson. Jackson to 35th, and right up and over Mopac to Exposition. Expo all the way down to LA Blvd, to Mopac, and northside trail back to GZLs HQ. 

16 Miles: Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Continue on Mt. Bonnell Road north to the first right hand street after the water stop, which is Mt. Bonnell Drive. Right on Mt. Bonnell Drive, across Balcones to Edgemont Drive. Left on Edgemont until a hard left hand corner at Glen Rose Drive. Left on Glen Rose up to name change to Madrona Drive, and to Balcones. Right on Balcones up to Hancock. Right on Hancock at the bakery, up and over Mopac to Bull Creek. After water stop at Bull Creek (just south of Hancock on East side of road), continue Hancock to Shoal Creek. Left on Shoal Creek up to 2222/Northland. Turn around there, and return Shoal Creek to Hancock to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek down to right hand veer onto Jackson. Jackson to 35th, and right up and over Mopac to Exposition. Expo all the way down to LA Blvd, to Mopac, and northside trail back to GZLs HQ. 

18 Miles (For regular human Gazelles): Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Continue on Mt. Bonnell Road north to the first right hand street after the water stop, which is Mt. Bonnell Drive. Right on Mt. Bonnell Drive, across Balcones to Edgemont Drive. Left on Edgemont until a hard left hand corner at Glen Rose Drive. Left on Glen Rose up to name change to Madrona Drive, and to Balcones. Right on Balcones up to Hancock. Right on Hancock at the bakery, up and over Mopac to Bull Creek. After water stop at Bull Creek (just south of Hancock on East side of road), continue Hancock to Shoal Creek. Left on Shoal Creek up to 2222/Northland. Turn around there, and return Shoal Creek to Hancock to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek down to right hand veer onto Jackson. Jackson to 35th, and right up and over Mopac to Exposition. Expo all the way down to LA Blvd, to Mopac. Cross to southside trail there, and take trail over to First St. Bridge. Up and over LB Lake on First St. Bridge to northside trail and back to GZLs HQ. 

18.7 Miles (BOSTON ONLY): Your map is here. Start at GZLs HQ. Head to northside trail directly towards Mopac. Veterans up to LA Blvd. LA Blvd out to Enfield (Mozart's). Continue Scenic to Cherry. Wind around to Rockmoor. Left on Rockmoor up to Stevenson. Left on Stevenson over to Scenic. Scenic down along river to hard right corner, which takes you back to Scenic. Left on Scenic at stop sign. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Continue on Mt. Bonnell Road north and down that side of Bonnell on your way to 2222. Be careful on the sharp bend on Bonnell as you head towards 2222. Take a right on 2222, carefully, and go a short way to Mt. Bonnell Road on your left. Cross carefully to this part of Bonnell Road, and go up that to Cross Valley Run. Right on Cross Valley Run over to Mesa. Left on Mesa up up up and over to Far West. Right on Far West down to access road along Mopac, which is Balcones Dr. Right on Balcones, across 2222/Northland to Hancock. Left on Hancock at the bakery, up and over Mopac to Bull Creek. Right on Bull Creek down to right hand veer onto Jackson. Jackson to 35th, and right up and over Mopac to Exposition. Expo all the way down to LA Blvd, to Mopac, and northside trail back to GZLs HQ. Do some strides on the trail for the last part, once you get to 18 miles. Scenic around to Pecos. Left on Pecos up to 35th. Left on 35th over to Mt. Bonnell Road. Right on Mt. Bonnell Road up, up, up to parking lot and base of steps. Continue on Mt. Bonnell Road north to the first right hand street after the water stop, which is Mt. Bonnell Drive. Right on Mt. Bonnell Drive, across Balcones to Edgemont Drive. Left on Edgemont until a hard left hand corner at Glen Rose Drive. Left on Glen Rose up to name change to Madrona Drive, and to Balcones. Right on Balcones up to Hancock. Right on Hancock at the bakery, up and over Mopac to Bull Creek. After water stop at Bull Creek (just south of Hancock on East side of road), continue Hancock to Shoal Creek. Left on Shoal Creek up to 2222/Northland. Turn around there, and return Shoal Creek to Hancock to Bull Creek. Left on Bull Creek down to right hand veer onto Jackson. Jackson to 35th, and right up and over Mopac to Exposition. Expo all the way down to LA Blvd, to Mopac. Cross to southside trail there, and take trail over to where the trail touches the concrete Boardwalk. Turn around at the boardwalk, and return to Congress bridge. Cross up and over LB Lake on Congress bridge, then down to northside trail and back to GZLs HQ.

THE MARATHONS

Feb 17th (Austin):  12-16 miles, with last 6 @ MGP. Easy start, and then crank up to marathon goal pace for last 6 miles of the run. Start time 5:45am.

March 3rd (Woodlands/Napa Valley): 20-22 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 22 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

April 14th (Paris): 14-18 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 18 mile max. NOTE: You will NOT use the Boston 18 mile route. Use the slightly easier "regular" 18 miler above. You guys get a special rolly polly route. Read the route descriptions carefully, please. Start time 5:45am.

April 15 (Boston): See special 18.7 mile route above.

April 27th/28th (Revel/Waco/Big Sur/Eugene/London): 12-16 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 16 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

May 5th (Toronto, Vancouver, Avenue of the Giants): 10-12 mile recovery long run. Back off from last week. Start time 5:45am.

May 18th (Beach to Bay): 10-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

June 9th (Tunnel Marathon): 9-12 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

BEGINNER GAZELLES, HALF MARATHONERS, and EVERYBODY ELSE:

Beginner Gazelles!  This week, 3-7 miles. Choose a distance amongst your pace pals, up to that 7 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

Everybody Else (GZLs peeps): 7-12 miles. If you went 12 last week, maybe cut back to 7-10 this week. For anything else, add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 12 mile mark. Start time 5:45am.

Feb 17th (Austin Half): 6-10 miles, with last 4 @ HMGP. Easy start, and then crank up to half marathon goal pace for last 3 miles of the run. Start time 5:45am.

March 3rd (Alamo Half): 10-14 miles. Last looooonnnnggg run. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 14 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

April 7th (Cap 10K): 5-10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.

April 7th (Cherry Blossom 10 miler): 10 miles. Add 1-2 miles to your last longer long run, up to that 10 mile max. Start time 5:45am.
