No showers at Gazelles HQ on Sept. 10 from 8-9 am

Please plan accordingly for a temporary water shut off at Gazelles HQ/The Loop for building plumbing maintenance.

We have two free entries to give away to two lucky Gazelles. Thanks to High Five Events, we will raffle off these two free entries at our Family Photo Day Party on Sept. 21 (see below) You’ll need to be present at the photo/party to win.

Every year we take a Gazelles Family Photo to be shared with the group. Mark your calendar for a fun morning of snacks—the Gazelle Foundation bake sale—race entry raffle and Gazelles 2019 t-shirts!

For those Gazelles that replied with their shirt size prior August 31—your shirt is guaranteed. All other active Gazelles will get shirts on a first come, first served basis.

Gazelle Foundation Bake Sale

If you like to bake, please consider sharing your talent and donating baked goods to this year’s Gazelle Foundation Bake Sale. Homemade individual servings are best, and including labels (gluten-free, contains nuts, etc.) gets you bonus points! Drop off your baked good at HQ on Saturday before the long run.

All of these yummy snacks will be for sale after the long run. Bring cash to purchase!

All proceeds benefit the Gazelle Foundation and help to bring clean water to our friends in Burundi!

Each Gazelle featured in the Member Highlight has been selected randomly from our active member list.

What prompted you to join Gazelles and when did you join?
I have been running for many years by just meeting up with friends in the morning, but that was becoming harder as everyone's schedules got busy. I really wanted an organized group to meet with on a regular basis who I knew would be there and not cancel on me. I thought about joining Gazelles actually for a couple years even before I did join, but like others, was a little intimidated that I wouldn't be fast enough to keep up. I'm so glad I joined 2 years ago, I don't know what I would do without the group!

Which group do you run with?
The ever reliable M/W 5:30 am group.

What's your favorite workout and why?
My favorite workout is probably Fartleks. As long as it's not Wilke, I'm there.

How has Gazelles changed your running/life?
I have always considered running and exercise a requirement for me and it hopefully will always be part of my life. But, my running has definitely changed since I started the Gazelles in that it is much more intentional. I don't go out to run, just to run. The runs have more purpose then they did before, whether it be strength, endurance, or just recovery. Also, Gilbert is constantly pointing out things that need to be improved in my running form (bad habits are hard to break). I hope he doesn't give up on me and continues to correct my form for years to come.

What’s your favorite Gilbert-ism or best story about him?
My favorite story about Gilbert is too long to type, so I will just keep it short in saying my favorite Gilbert-ism is obviously "Run with Joy!”
