We would like to say thank you and congrats to our first ever graduating Intro to Gazelles class! These new Gazelles showed up for early practices in the coldest month of the year to learn how to Run With Joy from coach Gilbert and coach Kenny. We hope you continue your running journey with us. Great job!

Our next Intro to Gazelles session will start Monday, March 4, with an info session on Saturday, March 2. Tell anyone that missed the first session to come and join us this March! Registration begins Feb. 1.

What prompted you to join Gazelles and when did you join?
In 2006, a co-worker, who did not run, won a free 6 week trial with the Gazelles at a talk Gilbert gave.  Luckily, she gave it to me, I was one of the only runners she knew. I had just run my first half-marathon. I was exhausted after the first workout (circuit) but loved Gilbert's joy and personal touch, so I kept coming back.

Which group do you run with?
I run with the Mon/Wed 5:30am group. It is a wonderful group of really supportive people. The best way to start a day.

What's your favorite workout and why?
My favorites are the ladder workouts at the track, either the 2k, 3 1ks, 4 400s or the 600, 400, 200.  I like it when the workout keeps changing, Gilbert says I get bored easily.

How has Gazelles changed your running/life?
In addition to getting a lot faster and stronger as a runner, my fastest half marathon is 45 minutes faster than that first one I ran before being a Gazelle. I have a community of running family that are invaluable.  This family has supported me through difficult times, helped raise my daughter and provided me some of my best friends.

What’s your favorite Gilbert-ism or best story about him?
A year or so into training with the Gazelles, I mentioned that I had a 7 year old daughter.  Gilbert said that he didn't think that was common. I was pretty confused and said that I thought having a 7 year old was pretty common. He said, not that, having children young, like a teenager, isn't common here. I started to laugh a little and told Gilbert that I was older than he was and had not had a baby as a teenager. He said "Oh, that's why you run so slow."
