This Week With Gazelles: April 2-8, 2018
Welcome to the first This Week With Gazelles post. Check in each week to see what's going on, special announcements, upcoming race info, a member highlight and everything else Gazelle-related. If there is something you want to announce or add for the group, you can post those in the comments box below.
Regular Gazelle workouts will be at the track this week. A fun circuit workout on Mon/Tues and 800m repeats on Wed/Thurs. As always, if you're training for a specific race, check the schedule for your race workouts.
If you're training for Boston, make sure to check out the email that Hannah sent to the group on 4/1. Runs are switching to Mon/Wed starting with the Super Fartlek on 4/2, which will be at Great Northern.
The Cap10k is next Sunday, April 8th! Good luck to all Gazelles who will be running! If you're not running, come out and cheer! The Loop will have a cheering station at Sandra Muraida and Cesar Chavez, just down the street from Gazelles HQ. Chameleon cold-brew will be there, so come by and get some cold-brew and cheer on your fellow runners.

How long have you been a runner and when did you join Gazelles?
I have been a runner for 15 years and joined the Gazelles last August.
Which group do you run with?
I run with the Saturday only group.
What's your favorite workout and why?
Long runs are my favorite because I love being able to have conversations with different groups of people each week.
What prompted you to join Gazelles and/or why do you run with Gazelles?
When I started running in 2003, I used to see Gilbert running on the trails with a small group of super fit runners and thought to myself, how can I be a runner like that? I trained by myself or with one other person until last year because I was too scared to join a running group, because despite running 12 marathons, 20+ half marathons, and countless other races, I never thought I was "good enough" to be in a running group. Last year my friend Salina told me that she wanted to run her first marathon and said she had joined the Gazelles. She said that she really loved the group and that I should join for a Saturday long run. I was nervous at first, but after 2 Saturday runs with the Gazelles last July, I was hooked. I decided to officially join in August and then ran CIM in December.
What's your favorite Gilbert-ism or best story about him?
I love Gilbert's saying Run With Joy, because it embodies what running is for me. I initially started running in college to lose the freshman 15, but in the process of training for my first marathon, running became something that brings me joy and personal fulfillment. (I also really love how much he wants to celebrate everyone's birthdays and accomplishments. I have never seen someone so enthusiastic about celebrating others!)

Did you know?
Gazelles run in the rain. Lightning might keep us from being outside, but Gilbert can modify the workout for indoors. In other words, show up for all your workouts!
Physical therapists are available for Gazelles three days a week offering free evaluations. The schedule is: Dr. Ross Bomben on Monday at the Gazelle workout location, Cody from Mondo Sport Therapy on Wed from 6:30am to 7:30am at Gazelle HQ, and Pieter from Mondo on Friday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Gazelle HQ.
The Loop Running Supply Company ("The Loop") offers a 15% discount for active Gazelles purchases except GPS watches.
From The Loop:
The hot water has been fixed so those who shower at HQ after workouts will be warm again.
Shoes just in: Nike Epic Reacts
Shoes coming soon: Nike Vaporfly 4% and Nike Pegasus (Boston edition)
