What prompted you to join Gazelles and when did you join?
I joined the Gazelles because I know we can achieve so much more by training as a group. I believe I have some pretty strong self-discipline myself, but the Gazelles give me that extra kick I need when we run hills or do speed training.
I also enjoy following others to their path to success. Speed might come from our leg muscles and lung capacity, but our mind makes us finish the distance. It doesn’t matter how fast you go. We all share the same grit to go beyond our own personal limits and to finish what we start.
Last but not least, our coach Gilbert is freaking awesome!!!
I have been a Gazelle since 2011.
Which group do you run with?
I run with the most badass runners in the group, i.e., T/T 5:30pm.
What's your favorite workout and why?
I enjoy our track workouts the most because they prepare me to beat the fat kids to the ice cream truck. They also remind me when I was running 400s in my 20s.
How has Gazelles changed your running/life?
I am a bootstrap entrepreneur. Gazelles has always been a huge support to me. I use small victories during our workouts to go after bigger battles.
What’s your favorite Gilbert-ism or best story about him?
My favorite things about Gilbert are his positive energy and enthusiasm. He is the epitome of faith, generosity and forgiveness. He’s a living proof that extraordinary happens. He makes me feel better about this World.
Each Gazelle featured in the Member Highlight has been selected randomly from our active member list.
Training for April marathon and half marathons started December 3rd. We held a Meet & Greet this past Saturday, but if you missed it, you can still join Gazelles to train for your April race (Boston, Paris, Big Sur, etc.). Click to join us!
Upcoming local races:
12/15: The Spicewood Vineyards Half-Marathon & 10K
12/16: Jingle Bell Run at Camp Mabry
The next price increase for the Austin Marathon is on Tuesday, Dec. 17th.
