What prompted you to join Gazelles and when did you join?
Free training with Jonathan and Dan at AMD in 2010, before that, I thought only wicked fast runners ran with Gazelles.

Which group do you run with?
Right now, Saturday only. Uber-mom will not last forever. Prior to that, I ran with the M/W early group.

What's your favorite workout and why?
Wilke because it is so hard and makes you feel like a complete bad-ass the rest of the day.

How has Gazelles changed your running/life?
I started running for efficient use of time after my third child. I quickly learned it is about your friends. Much therapy happens out on the Austin trails. Bad days, good days—a good workout and encouraging friends make them all better.

What’s your favorite Gilbert-ism or best story about him?
Gilbert sees potential in us we do not yet see in ourselves. It’s not really a saying, but has anyone noticed how long a Burundi minute lasts during fast feet?

Each Gazelle featured in the Member Highlight has been selected randomly from our active member list.

Quote of the Week

There is no try. Only do.

Did You Know?

Sunday, October 21 will be Gilbert’s 25th anniversary of the day he escaped genocide in Burundi.

 2017 Capitol Walk

2017 Capitol Walk

To honor his second chance at life, Gilbert and friends walk from Lady Bird Lake to the Capitol with water jugs filled at the lake. This annual tradition is how Gilbert chooses to celebrate the Gazelles Foundation’s mission of providing clean water to the people of Burundi and to encourage people to register for Run For The Water. The walk starts at mile zero on the trail at 7:30am, Friday, October 19.
