The fee for all training groups, unless otherwise specified, is $80 per month. Most trainings meet three times per week. Training fees and times are subject to change without prior notice.
Gilbert's Gazelles 2012
This training program focuses on biomechanics, strength and endurance and is geared to all levels of runners.
The coach for this program is former NCAA All-American Gilbert Tuhabonye, who believes that by transforming an athlete's biomechanics, running becomes a joy and the likelihood of injury is significantly limited. Gilbert brings his running and life experience to the training in an educational and inspiring format that stresses his love and commitment to the sport.
Workouts take place each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 5.15-6.30pm. In order that we may provide personalized instruction, the morning session (5:45 AM) is currently closed to new participants unless given special permission.

Beginner Gazelles 2012
The fastest gazelles in the wild first start out with slow, uncertain steps. Just like true gazelles, the fastest runners must also start out on a solid, steady course to perfection. In this group you will learn to master the running fundamentals required to kick start your running prowess. Gilbert's coaching staff will introduce drills, skills, and other techniques to put you on the fast track, focusing on the biomechanics, strength and endurance which form the basis for the Gazelles training program philosophies.

Join other beginners as we pursue the joy of a healthy running lifestyle. Classes will be on Monday and Wednesday. Participants have the option of choosing between a morning or evening time slot. 5.45 to 7.00am or 5.30-6.45pm. Registration is limited so that we may give you personal attention and all classes meet at RunTex Riverside unless otherwise denoted on the training calendar.

Friendly Gazelles 2012
Due to popular demand, Gilbert and his coaching staff have added another Gazelle Training Session. Come join the other friendly runners in a non-competitive atmosphere for a program which focuses on form, biomechanics, strength and endurance, which form the basis for the Gazelles training program philosophies.

Participants have the option of choosing between the following three weekly classes: M/W at 7:30 or 9:15 AM or T/Th at 8:15 AM. Each Saturday the group meets for a long run with a bonus stretching session afterwards.

High School/Middle School Gazelles 2012 - Winter/Spring
Join other young athletes in this fun, yet demanding, training group designed to take runners to the next level. Whether your focus is on sprints, middle distance, or longer distance, this class provides a bridge between the cross country and track seasons, helping you develop speed, strength, endurance and an increased knowledge of running. Runners age 8-16 years old are welcome, though space is limited. Coached by NCAA champion Bernard Manirakiza, runners will learn proper methods and mechanics during their training sessions, using the following techniques:

• Drills to strengthen your core muscles
• Workouts to build power
• Interval training
• Endurance training
• Flexibility strategies

The class meets on Monday/Wednesdays from 5:30-6:45 PM and Saturdays 7:30am beginning September 5. Locations vary depending on the workout but usually utilize the Austin High track and different areas of Zilker Park. All runners receive the Gazelle Discount (15% off) at RunTex stores for all of their shoe and apparel needs!
Marathon/Half Marathon 2012
In December 2011 we will be announcing a 2012 "Gazelle Marathon". Without giving away too much, our goal is to have all Gazelles seeking a fall event choose this one particular marathon. The coaches will be traveling with the group for race day and there will be discounted hotel rooms, airfare (pending), and registration (pending).
Whichever event we choose will either have a half marathon or relay for those not wanting to do the full marathon.

Youth Summer Camps 2012

In this group you will learn to master the running fundamentals required to kick start your running prowess. Gilbert and his coaching staff will introduce drills, skills, and other techniques to put you on the fast track, focusing on the biomechanics, strength and endurance which form the basis for the Gazelles training program philosophies.

Trail Running Gazelles
This just might be one of the toughest challenges around, but you'll be under the guise of Denver Fredenburg who's completed 6 marathons, 2 ultra's and numerous trail races of varying distance. And to boot he played college baseball at Baylor - so don't think about getting into a rock throwing contest with the man!
Join the group and test your mettle and for the naysayers don’t let the distance intimidate you. Trail running is a different breed of running. It is not about how fast you can go….it is just about putting one foot in front of the other. Anyone can do it, and everyone should.
Spring 10K Training
This program is specifically for runners who are looking to participate in the myriad 10K's and 5K's in March and April.

The class of all marathons in the United States, Boston has been a Gazelles stomping ground for the past eight years. Come and train under former NCAA Champion and world-renowned coach Gilbert Tuhabonye as he takes you through his tried and true program for your best experience yet. In 2010, 90% of those training with the Gazelles requalified to run Boston again in 2011, and in 2011 41 of our 42 registrants traveled to run the race.
The group features workouts to prepare your body for the rigors of the rolling hills – taking you through some of the most beautiful areas of Austin. Over the past eight years, hundreds of Gazelles have run up and down the hills of Austin to train and race in one the top-25 largest races in the United States. You'll train under former NCAA champion and world reknowned running coach Gilbert Tuhabonye and his team of assistants in an exciting group dynamic where you'll gain a broad understanding of training philosophy, race strategy, nutrition and more. In 2009 Gilbert finished 2nd overall at the Austin Marathon, and in 2010 he finished 4th. Gazelle Destination Marathon/Half Marathon 2012
For 2012 we are offering something new to Gazelles by encouraging you to sign up for a marathon of our choosing. Gilbert has selected the California International Marathon (Sacramento) on December 2nd as the first ever "Gazelle Destination" event. It's our goal to have 150+ runners traveling to the marathon and relay for an exciting weekend, excellent course, and great weather!

Spring Break Camp 2012

Monday - 5:30 PM - Carrie McDonald
This class is a core-focused, total body workout. Incorporating a circuit-style routine, the workouts feature compound exercises for the chest, back, and legs combined with medicine ball abdominal exercises. This class is ideal for improving total body strength! Come and get your week started off right!
Tuesday - 6:00 AM - Ewa Kacewicz
A full-body workout incorporating exercises from yoga and pilates, strength training, and core medicine ball work with a focus on keeping runners bodies in peak condition.
Tuesday - 5:00 PM - Rick Cawley
Learn how to use the DYNAMAX medicine ball to build power, strength, mobility, balance, and accuracy in a teaching atmosphere. Class concentrates on using the trunk as it is meant to be used with the upper and lower body for maximum velocity.
Wednesday - 5:30 PM - Richard Mendez
This is the "original" Gazelle Boot Camp class. Richard goes through a full body workout with body weight and free weights, followed by a medicine ball routine. If you don't try this challenging and fun class at least once you're only cheating yourself.
Thursday - 9:15 AM - "Core & Weight Circuit" from Coach Wendy Gaertner ($5)
Total body conditioning, using fun toys, medicine balls, bands and even the new TRX suspension training system!
Friday - 5:30 AM - Richard Mendez
Start your Friday off early with many of your Gazelle friends. This class is one of the largest boot camp classes, if not the largest, even at 5:30 in the morning! Richard uses body weight and free weights for a core and upper body workout. This workout does only minimal leg work, if any, so your legs are strong and fresh for Saturday long runs. The second half of the class is a medicine ball workout. Don't cheat yourself, get up early and start your day off right!

Saturday Only (Long Run) Gazelles 2012
For those who want to take a break from the weekly training but still keep up their base mileage on the long runs – this program is for you! Each Saturday hundreds of Gazelles hit the roads going all different distances. If you can't make the weekly training but want to do your long runs to prepare for your upcoming race, run with others that are gearing for the same event. Or maybe you don’t want to train but want to run for the social aspect! Depending on distance, groups start between 6 and 7 a.m. each Saturday. Full service water stops featuring ice cold water and Gatorade are placed every 2 to 2.5 miles and after each run a 45 minute stretching session is held to get you loose and limber for the weekend. Some Saturdays also include running form drills led by Gilbert.

Just like true gazelles, the fastest runners must also start out on a solid, steady course to perfection. In this group you will learn to master the running fundamentals required to kick start your running prowess. Gilbert and his coaching staff will introduce drills, skills, and other techniques to put you on the fast track, focusing on the biomechanics, strength and balance which is the foundation for the Gazelles training program philosophies.
