Gazelle Trail Running - Launching Now!
Mar 24, 2010Join Gilbert’s newest training group…Trail Running Gazelles!
These Gazelles are bound for the endless trails in and around Austin. They are not scared of darkness, cold, heat, water, mud, getting lost - or getting found. This group begins on Tuesday, March 30 with the training intent to complete 30k's and 60k's throughout the summer and ending with Cap'n Karl's All-Nighter: http://www.tejastrails.com/CaptKarl.html.
This just might be one of the toughest challenges around, but you'll be under the guise of Denver Fredenburg who's completed 6 marathons, 2 ultra's and numerous trail races of varying distance. And to boot he played college baseball at Baylor - so don't think about getting into a rock throwing contest with the man!
Join the group and test your mettle and for the naysayers don’t let the distance intimidate you. Trail running is a different breed of running. It is not about how fast you can go….it is just about putting one foot in front of the other. Anyone can do it, and everyone should.
The kick off meeting is next Tuesday at 6:00 a.m. in the RunTex Annex where we'll hit the major points of trail running, answer any questions or concerns, and then hit the dirt! Workouts will be on Tuesday/Thursday at 5:45 a.m. and a long run on Saturdays. We'll soon have a training calendar up on the website and normal meeting locations will include Barton Springs Pool, Hill of Life, and elsewhere around our beautiful city!
