Boot Camp Just What Your Body Needs
Oct 13, 2009As we enter into the fall months and training begins for Houston, Dallas, Austin, Boston, and your other big city marathons, there's not a better time than now to strengthen your core and prepare your body for the tolls of high mileage.
Each week Gazelles have four opportunities to focus on their core and general strength through classes taught by Master's Extraordinaire Richard Mendez and Dynamax C.O.O. Rick Cawley. Mendez offers 60 minutes of focusing strictly on the muscles that will make you faster, strong, and get you to the finish line healthy. He incorporates his decades of experience teaching and coaching runners, professional athletes, and military personnel with a personal touch of hands on teaching and instruction.
Cawley teaches how to properly use the medicine ball once a week on Tuesday afternoons. The C.O.O. of Dynamax Medicine Balls, Cawley has spent the last 25 years perfecting the ball and the techniques of training. Fitness writer Pam LeBlanc penned her recent experiences in an article that was featured on the front page of the Statesman, located here: http://www.austin360.com/recreation/content/recreation/ stories/2009/09/0914fitcity. html
Class times are:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - 5:30 p.m.
Friday - 5:30 a.m.
All meet at the RunTex Riverside Annex building and last for approximately 60 minutes.
