  • Final Summer Twilight Series Meet on Friday, August 14

    Aug 13, 2009

You've had it marked and circled on the calendar all summer, and it's finally here! This Friday (August 14) is the Championship Meet for the Austin Summer Twilight Series. We've got awards for winners, special prizes for the kiddos, and a can't-miss post-meet celebration just down the street at RunTex beginning at 8 p.m. Also, please see the rules for the 4X200 relay below.

The schedule will stay the same, with the 300 Hurdles beginning at 6:30 and everything else going on a rolling schedule. The only extra wrinkle is starting at 8 p.m. we will begin the post-event party a couple blocks north at the RunTex Riverside location. There we'll have free food, drinks, and all the awards will be handed out. We've got some awesome gear from our friends at Brooks, a surprise gift from The Black Sheep Embroidery, and of course your free t-shirt if you've run in at least three meets. Plus there's so much more that you'll have to be there to receive!

We're so glad that you have participated in the meets this summer, and hope that we've started something that will continue to grow in the coming years. Don't forget that pictures are available to view (we're not trying to sell you anything) at http://www.gilbertsgazelles.com/g/albums.php, and results from all meets are up and viewable at www.summertwilightseries.com.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me, and otherwise we look forward to seeing everyone out at the track on Friday beginning at 5:15 p.m.!

    **4X200 Co-ed Relay Rules**
    2 Males, 2 Females
1st leg starts in lane, on yellow line (400 meter)
1st and 2nd leg stay in lane all the way around
3rd leg cuts in after receiving baton
3rd and 4th legs run in lane 1
(We know it is done differently in high school, but this way is easiest for everyone)
