Catching up on recent racing action, more than one hundred Gazelles finished the AT&T Austin Marathon last month, and thirty-two of those ran qualifying times for the Boston Marathon. More recently, Gilbert won the Moe's Better Half-Marathon and Julie Whittenburg, also a Gazelle, won the female division of the same race.
Of the Austin Marathon finishers, several placed high in their age group, while others won the Austin Distance Challenge for their division. Among top finishers were Michelle Maton, Paul Pugh, Caroline Newman, Micheal Woo, Ivi Kerrigan and Sam LaBrie.
Down in San Marcos at the Half-Marathon, runners battled tough conditions on a slow course, but Gilbert won the race in 1:14:47, while Whittenburg clocked 1:34:22. Race writeup is here.
Finally, Gazelles also shined in other races around the country. At the Napa Valley Marathon in California, Peter Rauch finished twelfth overall and was second master with the time of 2.44.20 to PR by two minutes. Dan Hopper PRd by 40 minutes in the same race with a time of 3:21.
At the El Paso Half marathon, Leslie Barclay ran 1:47 for 3rd in her division and 20th overall woman, while Renee Reynolds ran 1:50 for 4th and 28th respectively.
