2007 AT&T Marathon & Half-Marathon

Feb 18, 2007

Once again, Gilbert's Gazelles training group was out in full force for one of the area's biggest races of the year. From the top of the leaderboard to volunteers, Gazelles could be found all over the AT&T Marathon & Half-Marathon course.

More than 80 Gazelles competed in today's Marathon & Half-Marathon with the runners spanning the gamut from first-timers to Olympic Trials qualifiers. At the top of the heap, of course was Desirée Ficker. Bob Wischnia over at RunTex has a nice write-up on Desirée's fabulous day. Several other Gazelles set marathon personal records, including Peter Rauch, Alex Pasadyn and more. As Gazelle Judy Shipway put it, "Gilbert is responsible for setting me up for a very nice PR for this race!"

In addition to the tough runners, there were volunteers all over the course, handing out water and encouragement at miles 7, 15 and 24, and from start to finish. Three other Gazelles were Pace Group leaders and helped runners of all stripes meet and surpass their goals. Holly Reed was out and about taking beautiful photos.

Like our Leotian blogger says, "What a running family we are blessed to have!!"
